Speaking during the  presentation of the items on Thursday, Tamara Safety Products senior sales manager Andrew Banda said they made a donation to complement various campaigns that Malawi police services is undertaking to reduce road accidents in the country.

“We decided to make this donation looking at the need and agency of their Road Traffic Protective Control items. You may agree with me that during pick hours, some of our roads within town like Chipasula, area 24, 23 and area 22 are always congested and needs a visible traffic police officer to control that because without controlling officer it can be chaos.

“As business people we also need to work hand in hand with the police if we are to reduce crimes in our communities and we should look at them as partners not enemies in so doing we can achieve so many things together,” he said

Banda said the donated items are worthy K400 000 and they will continue to help wherever they can as part of corporate social responsibility.

Receiving the donation, Kawale police deputy public relations officer Sergeant Mabvuto Phiri thanked Tamara Safety Products for the timely gesture saying the items will go a long way in helping them during Road Patrols.

“The donated items will be distributed to traffic warden and this will help in easy identification so as to create no space for criminals who may come in the name of traffic warden and during night these will also help them to be easily seen.

“The items will also help to reduce unnecessary traffic congestions in the area,” He said

Phiri said the items will also be used during snap road blocks they mount at times and at the end they will be able to combat various crimes and make the community free from crimes.
