Usi asks clergy to pray against cyclone politics between Chilima and Chakwera
Vice President of UTM, Dr. Michael Usi, has asked the clergy in the country to pray for the nation that there should not be cyclone politics between President Lazarus Chakwera and his vice president, Saulos Chilima.
Speaking as Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change during the Cyclone Freddy Memorial Service in Mulanje, Usi said the relationship between the two is just good.
Without making any specifications if there is a rift between the two, however, it can be deduced because the relationship between the vice president and the president hasn’t been rosy since the advent of multi-party democracy in 1994.
Bakili Muluzi fell of with his second Justin Malewezi to a point where the latter founded his party. Bingu wa Mutharika fell off with Cassim Chilumpha to the worse that he arrested his second on treason charges. With Joyce, Bingu fell of again and Banda registered her own party. Peter Mutharika fell off with Saulos Chilima to the extent Chilima registered his own party.
Is there a curse of the vice-presidency?
