TEVETA partners with NGO training youths in vocational skills
The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training Authority of Malawi (TEVETA) has partnered with Lilongwe-based Non Government Organisation, Ndi Tsogolo Langa, which means my future, in order to fight unemployment.
Ndi Tsogolo Langa is implementing first phase of the project in the area of Traditional Authority Kabudula and Mbang’ombe through the project called ‘Youth Arise for Skills and entrepreneurial’ which is scheduled to run for 5 Months.
Speaking during the orientation of the first intake of 80 students in the area of T/A Kabudula, Ndi Tsogolo Langa Executive Director, Joy Chitsulo advised the youths to take advantage of the training by taking the lessons training.
Chitsulo said the first intake will have the manageable figure of 80 students.
“As you are aware that the youths are in Majority in this country now we can’t talk about development while side lining our youths,” said Chitsulo.
Some of the skills which the students will be horned includes; carpentry, brick laying, tinsmithing, welding, kneeting and bakery.
Chitsulo said at the end of the training, the graduating students will receive the Certificate.
“The idea is that the student can use the certificate to establish him/herself by starting the personal business in various discipline or else the same certificate can be used to seek employment,” said
Chitsulo.
Chitsulo said after graduating 80 students, the project will also have another intake of 80
from T/A Mbang’ombe.
In his remarks, Senior Group Village Headman Kabudula, thanked Teveta and Ndi Tsogolo Langa for the initiative.
GVH Kabudula said the programme will go a long way in assisting the youths in his area.
Ndi Tsogolo Langa was registered in 2012 to work in the following thematic areas; women, girls and youths empowerment, agriculture, health and climate change.
TEVETA official, Jordan Banda encouraged the youths to work hard in class so that they stand a chance of accessing soft loans from loans from Banks.
Banda said TEVETA will continue to assist the programme till it reaches its intended goals of reducing unemployment among Malawian youths.
