Dausi urges Malawi Postal Corporation to embrace Information Communication and Technology
Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholus Dausi has urged the Malawi Postal Corporation to embrace Information Communication and Technology in order to compete on the liberalized market.
Dausi said this Friday when he visited Zomba Post office as part of his familiarization of some establishments under his ministry in the eastern region.
“You need to be very innovative in your service delivery in order to compete with the private sector. And one way of doing that is to embrace ICT in your programs and services to be at par with your counterparts in the private sector,” he advised.
Dausi observed that Malawi Postal Corporation has infrastructure all over the country, even in the remotest areas and well placed to start money transaction service delivery using ICT.
On staff motivation, the Minister acknowledged some challenges members of staff in the Malawi Postal Corporation face in the course of discharging their duties such as inadequate incentives, promotions and trainings.
He assured them that authorities are looking into the matter to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Senior Manager for Zomba Post Office, Limbani Nsosa said his office is providing postal services for hard mails for corporate entities such as World Vision and Save the children as big customers that are paying millions.
He revealed that Malawi Postal Corporation has introduced ICT tracking system of mails that are registered in their system as a new innovation apart from the general postal services.
The Minister of Information in the company of MACRA officials has been on a countrywide tour of institutions under his ministry.
