Abambo AB bounces back with new hit
This year has seen legendary artists making their comebacks. The Basement’s Cyclone and Wun’s Iceberg have teamed up to form Bossaro Music Group, Wendy Harawa recently announced a new album and Young Kay also known as Hyphen hinted on a comeback.
Six years after disappearing from the industry, another member of the now defunct rap group The Basement, Abambo AB announces his comeback following the release of his new song “Chikutumbwe”.
Speaking to Nyasa Times, Abambo AB real name Michael Kauka said he still has a lot to contribute to the industry.
“I actually stopped making music and I thought I would never release another song, but I think I still have a lot to contribute to the game,” the Move yotsimphina hit maker said.
He also revealed that he was working on an EP to be released sometime late this year.
In the new song, Abambo AB marks his territory as he sizes up both established and upcoming artists in the music industry.
“6 years with no song mafana akungochepabe, sizikuthekabe mafana akungoyesabe… 265 rap legendary status/Your boy been around find my name in Genesis, mwina sinkafika mwina ndine Mose,” the rhyme slayer raps in the song.
The chorus goes like, “Nanga chonchi man akungondiphwekesela/I never heard of them olo ka mphekesela/ eni ka pillow man simungogonabe/ eni kaguza man mesa mungogonabe/mungogonabe, afana mungogonabe, eni pyjama man mesa mungogonabe/mungogonabe, afana mungogonabe, eni kaguza man mesa mungogonabe.”
“Chikutumbwe” was produced by Jay Kay and Stich Fray.
Commenting on the current music scene, the legendary artist described it as “dope”.
“I think the music industry is dope. The music has evolved. There are more listeners now, the videos are great but I don’t know if the industry side of things has changed much,” he wondered.
