Alufandika regrets Airtel Top 8 exit: Urges Tigers to keep their heads up
Outspoken Azam Tigers Technical Director Robin Alufandika has described his side’s exit in the ongoing inaugural Airtel Top 8 Cup as unfortunate.
Alufandika said this after drawing 1-1 against Mighty Be Forward Wanderers in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie to bow out of the prestigious cup 3-1 on aggregate.
According to Alufandika, with the performance of his team, they didn’t deserve to lose.
“We were booted out bus we didn’t deserve to be out because the players played very well in both games and I salute them for that” he said.
But Alufandika said their cup exit is a blessing in disguise as they will now fully focus on Super League.
“We now need to keep our heads up and fully concentr on league games. We have a very good youthful side capable if delivering results” he said.
Tigers will be in action against Mafco FC and Dwangwa United on Saturday and Sunday respectively this weekend and both games will be played at the Chitowe Stadium.
In a related development, Mafco FC coach Temwa Msuku has also disclosed that they are looking forward to bounce back and return to winning ways after being defeated 6-2 and booted out of the Airtel Top 8 Cup by Moyale Barracks.
Msuku said he is looking forward to their executove commitee to work on the grievances they presented lately.
The Salima based soldiers side suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss on Sunday that was inflicted by Mzuni FC who are the current league leaders.
