Zomba Police offices to be rehabilitated in 2018, Minister Chazama assures MP Kainga-Nangozo
Zomba City Central Constituency member of Parliament Patricia Kainga Nangozo (People’s Party-PP) has brought to the attention of Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Cecilia Chazama of the “bad shape” of Zomba Police Station offices.
She said in Parliament that Zomba Police Station office are in “a very dilapidated state” and warned that “any time anything can happen.”
Nnagozo said there is need for “serious rehabilitation” of the Zomba Police offices.
In her response, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Chazama said she had already discussed the situation with the MP.
“ I informed her that the Malawi Police Service has a programme of constructing new houses and rehabilitation of houses and Police stations,” she said.
“ Funds have been set aside and the programme is going to start in January, 2018. So, I am assuring the Honourable Member that Zomba Police Station is one of the Police stations to be rehabilitated,” Chazama added.
