Malawi players rewarded with K600 000 each for World Cup progress

Following Malawi national football team’s progress to the group stage of the World Cup qualification following a 1-0 victory over Botswana Zebras at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, the players  will get K600 000 game bonus each up from the normal K100 000 for a win and half the amount (K50 000) for a  draw.

Players rewarded

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu said  the association gave the Flames players K250 000 for  a goalless draw in Botswana in the first leg played on Saturday in Francistown and also K250 000 for the win on Tuesday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, making it a total of K500 000.

Nyamilandu topped up K100 000 for each player from his pocket to round it up to K600 000.

“We considered the first leg that we drew as a win because if we had not drawn in that match we couldn’t have qualified,” said Nyamilandu.

Meanwhile, Flames coach Meke Mwase has  said the bonus will help motivate the team.

He pleaded for support from FAM for the national team’s preparations in Qatar World Cup and African Cup of Nations (Afcon) group stages qualifiers.

The Flames tactician said the team will need to prepare thoroughly for the qualification campaign.

1. How much more does our NETBALL team deserve then..The injustice machine on display yet again. Honestly, if we are rewarding these guys with this much for beating a sub standard team, how much more should we be doing for the Queens who stands shoulder to shoulder with the giants of netball in this world

2. Water topping up from his pocket is a much needed move, he really needs to repay the loot he has accumulated over all these years in office with no results to show for apart from his full pockets

ON NO.1 – REMEMBER WHO YOU VOTED FOR, WHY DON’T YOU ASK THE SELF IMPOSED PATRON OF THIS NETBALL TEAM?
