Bingu Stadium to get new lease of life – Msungama

Government says it will lease new life at Bingu National Stadium ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers which the stadium will host.

Not a garden but Bingu Stadium

Minister of Youth and Sports, Ulemu Msungama made the comment after social media platforms pictures which showed the stadium abandoned.

Msungama said the government is working tirelessly to make sure that Bingu National Stadium is back to its shape.

Social media pictures show bushes growing on the pitch of the facility.

However, Msungama said that stadium management was unable to work on the facility for some weeks as it was used as a Covid-19 isolation centre.

According to Msungama, the facility has been earmarked to host Flames matches in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in June.

People in LL voted this this useless person. And the good for nothing Lazalo appointed him minister. How can one fail to manage a football ground to the extent it gets overgrown with grass like that? Koma matama ngati ophunzila kukachotsa danzi ku india on tax payers money. Chakwera should fire this boy alongside Chaponda. Pathetic!!!

Minister of Sports should be highly ashamed, it shows incompetent people are appointed to certain positions in appeasement. Bingu Stadium is a fairly new stadium yet one can see there is no maintenance programme for this beautiful structure and this is the case of almost all government infrastructure in many districts in our country. Bingu Stadium will soon be left with broken gates, unfunctional toilets probably with no lights at all. Why are our ministers being paid huge salaries for loafing around and not solve any critical issues pertaining to their portfolios? IT IS A JOKE YOU SHOULD ALL BURY YOURSELVES… Read more »

I cannot agree more.

If this stadium was in BT, it could have been in better condition. Am sorry, lilongwe city council is very much backward, even zomba municipality is better organised.

We could not build such a facility with our own man n financial resources, kupatsidwa and still we fail to manage it. And people are working, managing the stadium.
