Malawians’ Joburg CCAP worshippers disturb church service
As Christians across the world celebrated and thanked God for taking them through 2012, some shameless Malawian worshippers in South Africa busied themselves fighting over church position.
The incident occurred at Bereu CCAP Church, which is under the Johannesburg Synod of the CCAP, according to one of the worshippers there.
The church has reportedly two factions, one led by the suspended session clerk, a Mr. Sikis from Turfontien Prayer House and the current executive committee.
The dispute, which has been running for more than two years now, deepened last Sunday when the two church factions clashed during an afternoon service.
During the said service, according to our source who asked to remain anonymous, the church executive committee was busy with the service when Sikis with his two friends- Mr Kazembe and Mr Gama- invaded in the middle of announcements which were being made by current Session Clerk, a Mr Nhlema.
Sikis, suspended for his alleged state of confusion, reportedly stood in front of the church without getting permission from the elders and started hurling insults at the executive committee.
“We would like to speak to the congregation so that it should know that we were suspended unconstitutionally,” Sikisi told the not-so-puzzled congregation before he was brought down by a deputy session clerk.
Sikisi did not relent and stood again asking the church “should I speak or remain silent?”
However, in response the whole congregation chorused by commanding him to stop and assume his seat.
For almost two consecutive Sunday services, the three people who are now being called kamingis(rebels) have been showing disrespect to the current executive committee despite being openly advised by the synod to stay away from church activities.
Our source said the session clerk told the worshippers the three gentlemen had missed their mark and reminded everyone that their conduct was un-CCAP.
The session clerk is reported to have also told the congregation that “they are [the rebels] supposed to be exemplary and what they are doing is very bad and shameful.”
“It seems they did not expect to be on suspension. If we are to build a strong church based on solid biblical teaching and discipline we need to apply what the bible says on church disciplinary. And that’s why we, as executive committee, led by Rev Mangisa and Rev Sande from Malawi agreed to put these people on suspension,” Nhlema is reported to have told the church.
The source also alleged that the aggrieved trio has been causing a lot of chaos like bribing the ousted Rev M.P Nasiyaya to fire the existing executive committee unconstitutionally, forcing the elders at Turfontein Prayer House to sign documents that they want to be independent, as well as mobilizing the youth, led by Peter Jim, to destabilize church services.
It is alleged the three people have also been creating a myriad of quarrels and discomfort at their prayer house until the Malawian based pastors- Rev Mangisa and Rev Sande- intervened to bring sanity.
