Malawi footballer Alick Lihuhu dies after trials in Mozambique
Alick Lihuhu, the former Flames midfielder died on Thursday morning, July 25th, 2013 at Mchinji District Hospital after a short illness.
The death has been confirmed by his younger brother Dave Lihuhu.
Dave told Nyasa Times that Alick, who was in Mozambique to attend trials died after complaining of headache and opening bowels.
“I can really confirm that my elder brother Alick is no more. He went to Mocambique to attend trials for a certain side and he was not feeling well up to an extent of being sent back home to receive treatment. At first we thought it was malaria but when things went worse we sent him to Mchinji where our mother is settled,” said Dave, in a telephone interview from Mchinji.
He said when they took him to the hospital he breathed his last.
Lihuhu, who has died at the age of 32 played for several clubs in the country like Tigers FC, Escom United, Big Bullets, Mighty Wanderers, Civo United before trekking to Mozambique.
Meanwhile, the remains of the footballer will be buried at his home in Mchinji, according to his younger brother.
