Atupele and Angella set to seal it with Nikka wedding
All is set for the wedding of UDF 2014 presidential candidate Atupele Muluzi who will be marrying her longtime companion and former legislator, Angella Zachepa on Saturday in Machinga.
The nikka ceremony will take place at a mosque in his father’s home in Machinga district about 200kilometers from Blantyre city.
The wedding is expected to be attended by both local and foreign guests including President Joyce Banda according to sources.
However the invitation card explicitly says that ”there will be no perekani perekani although gifts will be accepted.”

This is a departure to what happens at weddings in Malawi where perekani is the heart of the wedding ceremony.
According to family sources the ceremony at the mosque will be covered live on Zodiak radio and some selected speeches which will include the speech by Atupele’s father, Malawi ex-president Dr. Bakili Muluzi.
The ceremony at the mosque will start at 8am and will be followed by a luncheon at their residence at Kapoloma village.
The reception is expected to take place at the same venue from 1Pm.
It is not known whether the couple will kiss in public to seal their wedding.
But one invited guest to the wedding told Nyasa Times that he was keen to see a celebration kiss from the couple.
“I think that would be fantastic,” said one. “They’re just a really lovely couple.”
