Nomads put Moyale to the sword, move second in Malawi TNM Super League
Mighty Wanderers were in a ruthless mood on Sunday as they tore apart Moyale Barracks with two goals from Mike Kaziputa and Diverson Chilemba to enable the blues go second in the TNM Super League.
Wanderers now have 40 points behind the league leaders Red Lions who have 41 points following their late equalizer against Epac FC to force for a 2-2 draw. However, the Nomads have a game in hand.
In a game, which took place at the Balaka Stadium, the blues send an early warning to the visitors with Kaziputa’s stunner confusing the soldiers, who did not expect an early goal.
Despite the absence of some of their key players like Alfred Manyozo, Jacob Ngwira and Victor Mpinganjira, the Nomads were dominating the game.
Man of the match, Cuthbert Sineta, who was also responsible for his team’s victory in their previous game against Evirom was a marvel to watch as he controlled the middle of the park perfectly-, proving he is the new star in the making.
Gastin Simkonda, who is Moyale’s hit-man was largely anonymous after being tamed well with Idriss Walesi, who also had a grand game.
When Chilemba scored the second goal, the Nomads were at ease and displayed beautiful passing football that is associated with Barcelona in Spain and Arsenal in England.
Blues general secretary David Kanyenda vowed to upset the tables in their remaining matches in order to win the title.
“The battle continues but our aim remains to win the championship,” he said.
Moyale Barracks coach Nicolas Mhango attributed their loss to a bumpy and slippery pitch.
He however congratulated the Nomads for their victory.
Wanderers’ next fixture is on Saturday against their traditional rivals Big Bullets at the Civo Stadium.
