Bishop Stima bids farewell to Blantyre Archdiocese
Roman Catholics faithful from Blantyre Archdiocese converged in their large numbers at Limbe Cathedral in Blantyre on Saturday to bid farewell to Bishop Montfort Stima, who is leaving for Mangochi Diocese after Pope Francis appointed him to head the diocese.
His farewell mass was also attended by some political leaders from various parties like Nicholas Dausi from DPP, minister of mining John Bande, PPM President Mark Katsonga and Airtel Malawi boss Saulosi Chilima.
In his remarks, Stima hailed Blantyre Archdiocese priests and faithful for their support and care in his 22 years in priesthood in the Archdiocese.
“You have been supportive and my simple advice to you all is that make sure that there is still unity and love in the entire Archdiocese.
“Another request is that continue praying for me because my journey in saving God still continues,” said His Lordship.
Stima saluted faithful in the Archdiocese for being with him when he was involved in a car accident at Zalewa.
He also asked Blantyre Archdiocese faithful to warmly welcome the new Bishop Thomas Msusa, who was at Zomba Diocese.
Various gifts from all Blantyre Archdiocese dinaries were also given to Bishop Stima.
