Silver forward Green Harawa to join Gunners in January
Silver Strikers forward Green Harawa will join Botswana’s Extension Gunners in January when the transfer window opens.
Harawa, who has been in Botswana trying to put pen to paper, was expected back home on Friday to rejoin the TNM Super League defending champions.
The bankers’ treasurer Fred Kalonga said the two sides could not conclude the deal before the close of the transfer because of other outstanding issues.
Silver demanded K6 million for Harawa, but Extension Gunners wanted to sign him as free a agent to meet FIFA transfer rules.
“We did not agree to that because there was no benefit. Its not that we are standing in the player’s way. We want the best for him and also for the club,” said Kalonga.
He then said the player might go back to Botswana in January as the team is still interested in his services.
Harawa was initially expected to arrive in the country last week Friday, but failed due to some logistical issues, according to the club.
“Gunners have been clinging to Harawa. They wanted him to remain in Botswana waiting for the transfer window in January.
“But we insisted that he should come following reports they wanted to send him to lower league side in Botswana,” he explained.
