Kumwenda, who is expected to go back to her club in New Zealand has already started training with Diamonds in readiness of the Gotv Netball Championship.

Kumwenda told Nyasa Times that she is ready to help her former team to clinch the title even the Rainbow Paints League.

“I am on loan at Diamonds up to December before l go back to New Zealand. This will help me to keep myself fit ahead of the 2016 season in New Zeland,” said the Malawi Queens evergreen shooter.

Confirming Kumwenda’s loan at Diamonds is a letter from New Zealand, which Nyasa Times is in possession.

The letter which was signed by her team’s Chief Executive Officer   Brigit Hearn reads: “The Mainland Tactix are happy to support Mwai playing for Kukoma Diamonds netball while she is in Malawias it is outside her Mainland Tactix contracted season.”

“We see this as beneficial for Mwai to continue playing netball and come into our 2016 AZN Championship season with match fitness,” concludes the letter.

Govt championship

Renowned lawyer and netball follower Wesley Thokozani Namasala has cried foul on how teams to take part in this year’s Gotv Netball Challenge were selected stating that some deserved a place in the tournament have been sidelined

Namasala made his remarks following Thursdays draw in the tournament which took place at Zodiak Studios in Lilongwe.

For instance, Namasala questioned the decision to leave out teams like Prison Sisters and Mimossa, who are currently enjoying top form.

“Bwana Chimwemwe Nyirenda, I gather there are 8 teams competing in Gotv. My first assumption was that the top 8 teams will be derived from the last National Tournament which was Airtel. From that tournament the top 4 teams in their order were the following: Complex Tigresses,Blue Eagles, Diamonds, and Civonets.”

Namasala went on to illustrate that there were no positions from 5 to 8. Suffice to say that the bottom four were Mafco, Thunders , Prison and Mimossa.

“I am very surprised that the 8 teams I have seen to participate in Gotv excludes PRISON SISTERS. I want to know why? Are they not in top 8? Perhaps there are other considerations? What are these considerations? I am baffled and kindly assist me with an explanation,” he queried.

During the draw, in Gotv Value there are teams like Kukoma Diamonds, Civonets ,Lameck Queens and Thunder Queens.

In GOtv Plus group there are giants like Complex Tigress, Blue Eagles,Mimosa Queens and
Mafco.

Interms of the prize money, number one will receive K2 million while the second team will go away with K1.250 million.

The third team will go away with K1 million, with the fourth team receiving K900,000. The fifth team will be given K800,000 as the sixth will have K700,000 in their bank account.

The seventh slot will receive K600,000, while the team which will finish on the tail will be given K500,000.

In addition, all the 8 teams will receive K1,2m before the start of the tournament for administration.
