Community Care Project will be running the project in conjunction with Kapachere Institute for Health.

Speaking during the ceremony at Kauma School Ground in the area of Traditional Authority Chitukula in Lilongwe, Community Care Project Trustee, Christine Chilondole, said the project is very important among school going girls especially those from Standard seven and eight.

Chingondole said, currently the project is in its pilot phase in five schools in Lilongwe and will roll out into five districts.

The five schools where the project is currently up and running include; Tsokankanansi, Chatuwa, Kauma, Mbwetu and Chipala targeting 2,000 learners.

“We want young people to be able to make rightful decision based on knowledge gained through the project,” said Chingondole.

In her speech Primary School Education Advisor, Doreen Mayele, commended Community Care Project for launching the project.

Mayele said the project will go a long way in complementing Government effort in raising awareness on issues of HIV and Aids.

“The project will be able to implement life skills education which is aimed at building a well being of our learners,” said Ms Mayele.

Community Care Project was established in 1999, by Grace Generation Church operating under the umbrella body of Project Gateway which is based in Kwazulu Natal in South Africa.

In HIV/AIDs projects is where funding is forth coming. That’s why we will see too many of these projects flooding our schools. What is the responsibility of Teachers and their Headmasters? These are better placed to give advice and information to learners everyday demonstrating to them as part of Health Education.
