Malawi in Commonwealth Investment Council
Malawi has been incorporated in the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, the Chairperson of the Council Jonathan Marland disclosed in Malta at the launch of the of 2015 Commonwealth Business Forum on Tuesday.
Receiving the news, Malawi’s Trade and Industry Minister Joseph Mwanamvekha said the development will accord the country a voice on the global business stage.
According to Mwanamvekha, the forum has also resolved to invest heavily in tourism opportunity for Malawi to trade her business opportunities to investors amongst all 53 Commonwealth nations.
“As a council, we will focus on issues and areas that are relevant to all countries including infrastructure, health care, financial services, technology, tourism and sustainability on top of providing an extraordinary opportunity for businesses from across the Commonwealth to meet and network,” said Mwanamvekha.
Meanwhile, President Peter Mutharika will on Wednesday November 25, 2015 give a key note address at the Commonwealth Business Forum on the need for the global world to invest in Malawi’s Health Sector.
The Malawi leader will address the world at a session on Business of Health: Improving Access and Outcomes.
Malta is hosting the Commonwealth Business Forum for the second as part of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). With the theme for CHOGM being “The Commonwealth – Adding Global Value”, strengthening trade and investment is a key area where the Commonwealth can add value.
