Achoke! BWB staff demand ‘horrible’ boss out
Blantyre Water Board (BWB) employees on Tuesday went on strike to demand the chief executive’s removal, whose tenure has been marked by several controversies .

The workers blocked the entrance to the board’s head office, demanding government to relocate chief executive Andrew Thawe.
They claimed Thawe is a “horrible” boss and they have had enough of him.
“It is too much; we are sick of this chief executive,” said one irate worker .
The staff gathered at the board’s car park chanting “Achoke! Achoke!” (He must go) .
Water Employees Trade Union of Malawi president James Monjeza said the employees want Thawe out of BWB.
They also want government to act on the petition they presented on August 21.
Thawe said he could not discuss the matter in the media.
