Airtel Malawi gives Mjura warm send-off to Trace Music finals

Malawi’s representative to the pan-African music contest, Airtel Trace Stars, Samuel Mjura Mkandawire on Thursday received a warm send-off from the sponsors as he prepares to leave for the finals.

Mkandawire, 27, won Malawi edition and will be flying to Nairobi in Kenya where he is going face his counterparts from 12 countries, of Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Senegal,Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo B, DRC and Gabon.

A member of Mafilika Band, Mkandawire, who belted out a performance of Beautiful by Mali Music, vowed represent Malawi “to the best of my ability and everything that’s good about our people.”

Airtel’s brands and communications manager Isabel Kachinjika hailed Mkandawire did not hide her confidence, saying she was sure that Mkandawire has all what it takes to excel in Kenya.

“You have what it takes to carry the day in Nairobi during the Pan African finals. The formula to swaying judges is so simple, just thrill them with a $50 000 performance then yes, you will be on your way to America with a record deal and mentorship with star Akon” said Kachinjika.

Kachinjika appealed to Malawians to vote for Mjura.

“Let us support him fully by voting countless times to boost his winning formula before the voting lines close on March 25. Otherwise, all the best Sam as you leave for the finals next week. We are with you all the way,” she emphasised.
