Asian businesses donate K10mil medical supplies
The Asian Business Community in Lilongwe has made a donation of medicine and other medical equipment worth K10 million to Kamuzu Central Hospital.
The hospital authorities approached the Asian business community to help with medical supplies and they asked heir list of requirements and out of K30 million drugs requirements, the Asian business community started off with a K10 million with emphasis that the donation would not be misused or abused and would go to the deserving.
The hospital administrator assured of of proper dispensing of the drugs.
The deputy director of the hospitalMable Chinkhata thanked the Asian business community for the “generous gesture”.
She also requested the donors to look at building a shelter for discharged patients and also for some upkeep of the orthopaedic treatment room.
On behalf of the business community Razak Kassam assured of more support , saying they are willing to assist the underprivileged and always forthcoming to give back something to the people of Malawi.
In the past the community has come forward on so many times to assist but have not felt the need to publicise but now that mindset needs to change so other communities and organisations can also come forward to contribute to the plight of our underprivileged brothers and sisters.
“We hope this is just a start and we pray for continuity of such contributions,” Kassam said.
Last week the same group donated MK2 million worth of essential drugs to Kapiri Mission Hospital from Mchinji District this was received by Sister Maria Cruz who appreciated.
The team is also working on a couple more such contributions which shalll be announced in the near coming future .
