Barry One to release gospel album

Urban musician Barry One has said he will be releasing a gospel album later this year which could also be his last in his music career.

The musician told Malawi News Agency (Mana) ahead of releasing his single titled ‘Wamasiye’ which is expected to hit the airwaves on Friday, January 30, 2015.

“Right after this release, I am going on a break as I will be working on my next album set to be released later this year. I will work with God’s Fav, BFB, Dare Devilz and Percy Manyozo as producers on the album and it is a gospel album and probably my last,” explained Barry One also known as Uno.

Uno also hinted on the prospects of retiring from the mic.

“Right after that I am retiring from music so I look forward to making a classic, something people should remember me with as one of the artists that existed in the history of Malawi hip hop,” he said.

The artist said he decided to release the single ‘Wamasiye’ because he felt orphans were not getting enough support.

“Well, this is an African crisis, street kids starving, no shelter and yet not getting enough support to have a better life.  It worries me every time I see these kids, some are even younger than you can imagine and have no support, no families, how do they survive and you wonder,

“A little of an impact we can make as Malawians, as citizens, as Christians to support them in whatever way and that is what really sparked the idea to come up with the song. They need our support and it is something that really needs our attention.

The song was produced by God’s Fav and recorded at Bucci’s studio.
