Bt Synod asks congregants to contribute K10,000 each to pay K2bn Synod debt

Officials from Blantyre Synod of the CCAP have extending a begging bowl to their congregants to contribute K10,000 per member to settle a staggering K2 billion debt for the synod.
However, some members of the church have taken up on social media platforms to ask the synod to give details on how the debt was accumulated and how the money was used, saying there was no accountability and transparency in the whole matter.
In a letter read in all churches  on Sunday, the Synod has also asked 10 percent from the tithe, each pastor gets each week.
Blantyre Synod recently launched a special appeal strategy to its congregations, aimed at raising funds to assist meeting an economic stability.
General Secretary for the Synod Rev. Anderson Juma, recently announced that the church has a debt of K2 billion obtained from commercial banks, lending institutions and individuals for some of its developmental activities.
