In an exciting encounter on Saturday at MDC Stadium,Blantyre United showed character and the zeal to win the game as Victor Nyirenda was first to open the score sheet.

The Zomba based out fit equalized a few minutes later.

It was a see-saw game as both sides displayed fantastic football, but Blantyre United were more determined as they were pressing hard for a winning goal.

Players like Cuthebert Sinetre and Jidde Mbandambanda were a thorn to the visitors.

Chikoti Chirwa’s absent for Red Lions in the middle of the part was felt because they failed to dictacte things.

Chirwa was with the Flames in Lilongwe against Lesotho in a game which ended 1-1.

Blantyre United piled up more pressure to the visitors, and no wonder Jidde Mbandambanda converted the winning goal to add more woes to Red Lions who are now worried with relegation.

Blantyre United senior player Cuthebert Sinetre said they will fight on until the end of the league.

Sinetre said unity and hardwork is the only secret for their team which has no sponsors.

“We are struggling financially but we cannot let that to disturb us.We will fight on untill the end of the season because anything can happen in a game of football,”said Sinetre.

Red Lions coach Prichard Mwansa conceded that the going is tough in the league but ruled out relegation.

He said they will survive relegation and assured their fans of positive results in their remaining games.
