Bullets woes: Players emergency meeting Jan 25

In-house wrangles at one of the country’s oldest Club Big Bullets refuses to die as players have set up an impromptu meeting this coming Saturday, 25 January, 2014 to map the way forward on how their welfare will be taken care of following the dissolution of the clubs executive and supporters committees.

Team captain Fisher Kondowe confirmed the meeting in an interview with a local radio on Thursday.

According to Kondowe, the players are in the wilderness following the club’s executive committee’s expulsion.

“We are meeting this Saturday morning at 9:00am to exactly know what is happening and how best we can do to find a solution to the problems that our team is going through,” said Kondowe.

“We are expecting to be told by those who dissolved the Executive Committee on how us [players] will survive in terms of our welfare,” he added.

The former Flames international said as a team captain, he is receiving so many complaints from fellow players on what is going on.

He added that some players are even “failing to pay rentals”.

Meanwhile, Big Bullets Trustees have set February 8, 2014 as a day the club is expected to go into polls and elect new executive committee.

But the dismissed Club Chairman Malinda Chinyama and General Secretary Higger Mkandawire said they will not take part.

Chinyama however expressed surprise with the news that the team will hold executive committee elections.

“I am hearing it from you that Bullets will hold an elective general meeting this February. All I know is that we are going to hold annual general meeting (AGM) where we are supposed to present our report on how we have been running the club. Nevertheless I am not interested to take part in the elections,” Chinyama is quoted in the press.

According to reports, those vying for the positions of executive members are asked to pay a nomination fee of K25, 000.00 while those interested to contest in any executive committee post are requested to pay K75, 000.00.

Supporters committee elections are scheduled to take place on 1st February, 2014 at BAT ground and those aspiring for top positions need to pay K50, 000.00 while executive committee members are requested to pay K10,000.00 non refundable fees.
