The event, designed to connect students with industry leaders, saw Zimba share invaluable insights into the world of business, challenging traditional notions about what it takes to succeed.

“Great businesses are born from great ideas, not just capital,” Zimba asserted, captivating the audience of aspiring engineers.

As the CEO of SICO Holding—which has over 100 permanent employees and over 500 temporary ones; Zimba’s journey from humble beginnings to a leading figure in the business community serves as a powerful testament to the transformative power of innovative thinking.

During his talk, Zimba emphasized the importance of creativity and problem-solving in entrepreneurship. “You have the skills to tackle real-world problems—don’t be afraid to think outside the box,” he encouraged.

He urged students to harness their engineering expertise to develop solutions that could drive economic growth and improve lives in Malawi.

The event also featured a lively Q&A session, allowing students to engage directly with Zimba. Many sought his advice on navigating the complexities of starting a business in Malawi’s challenging economic landscape. His responses, filled with practical wisdom and personal anecdotes, left students motivated and eager to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.

Zimba’s presence at MUBAS is part of the university’s broader initiative to strengthen ties between academia and the business sector.

By bringing in established entrepreneurs, MUBAS aims to equip students with the skills and mindset necessary for success in a rapidly evolving job market.

As Zimba concluded his address, he left students with a powerful message: “Your ideas have the potential to change the world. Believe in them, nurture them, and don’t wait for perfect conditions to take the leap.”

The event was met with enthusiasm, as students expressed a renewed sense of purpose and determination to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.

With Zimba’s encouragement ringing in their ears, the next generation of engineers in Malawi is poised to innovate and lead the way toward a brighter future.
