Campus Lodge gives patiets at Mchinji district hospital a festive cheer
As one way of demonstrating commitment to charity work during the Christmas festive season, Campus Lodge staff has donated assorted items to Mchinji District Hospital worth K350 000 in the pediatric ward.
One of the staff members at the lodge, Carlo Mbewe, said the decision for the initiative was reached in order to help the needy patients in this festive season, saying most of them face challenges because they do not get help from their relatives.
She, however, advised other well wishers to support the patients as the hospital was currently serving thousands of people but there was a gap to be filled.
“We have donated bags of maize, rice and other small items at the hospital, especially to the pediatric ward so that the administration can be saved in terms of providing food to the patients.
“We thought it wise to donate a little something so that in so doing we celebrate together in this Christmas festive season with these patients,” Mbewe said.
Receiving the donation on behalf of Mchinji District Health office, Assistant Health Services officer, Foster Maneti commended Campus Lodge for the donation, saying it was a relief because most of the patients at the hospital faced different challenges lacking support.
She said it was very rare to see business institutions in the country coming to help the needy patients and has since asked other well wishers to follow the example demonstrated by the institution.
“You know the hospital does not receive enough funding to cater for everyone, so the donation like food will help the patients, nutrition wise,” he said.
One of the beneficiaries Lucy Banda, a guardian to a three-year old child commended the lodge for the donation which she said came in time as the donation would help her child to be in good health.
