Chakwera returns to Malawi, calls US trip ‘successful’
Scores of opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) supporters turned out to welcome their party president Dr Lazarous Chakwera at Kamuzu International Airport on Friday when he returned from a 15-day visit of the United States of America.
Chakwera said he has a number of various meetings with potential investors and other top level officials as part of his bid for the presidency in Malawi.
“I have come home a happy man after a successful trip to United State of America,” he told a crowd of supporters at the airport. “I am happy to be here!”
The MCP president said he met with a group of business people who are interested in investing in Africa and woed them to come to Malawi.

The former president of Assemblies of God Church in Malawi also met with other prominent people in relation to financing of his presidential campaigni who included American bishops and preachers and some ex-patriots from Malawi.
Chakwera also had meetings with officials at the Carter Center in Atlanta , Georgia established by former US president Jimmy Carter.
The Carter Center which works in partnership with Emory University is guided by a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering seeking to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health.
