Chitipa Utd coach upbeat of beating the drop
Northern Region TNM Super League side, Chitipa United Head Coach Kondwani Mwalweni says his team will survive the relegation zone and remain in the league.
Mwalweni, whose team is leading from behind on position 16 in the top flight league, was speaking in an interview wi ahead of the leagues’ second round kick-off this coming weekend.
“As we are starting the second round l will do everything in my capacity as the head coach to ensure that the team moves away from the relegation zone,” said Mwalweni.
He further said; “We will be using Karonga Stadium as our home ground and this will work to our advantage as we will have full morale from our supporters from Chitipa, Karonga and surrounding areas.”
He also disclosed that discussions were at an advance stage to lop in new players in the team as a way of boosting the morale.
“We will be signing a new defender, midfielder and strikers, to boost the team’s performance and once the deal is finalized we will announce the names,” said Mwalweni.
The struggling Blantyre United newly appointed head coach, Macdonald ‘Nginde’ Mtetemera also sounded optimistic to remain in the league despite being in the relegation zone.
“I have strong faith that Blantyre United will remain in the super league come rain or sunshine. Our supporters should expect fireworks in the second round of the league,” said Mtetemera, who adopted a team which is on 14th position of the log table.
As the battle for three maximum points resumes this week-end, relegation zone teams will face each other.
On Saturday Blantyre United will play against Dwangwa United.
Blantyre United will then return to the playing field to face Salima based armed men, MAFC0, on Sunday at the Chitowe Stadium.
Wizards and Azam Tigers will entertain Mulanje fans at Mulanje Park Stadium as they will be battling for three points.
Chitipa United will have a mountain to climb as they will be facing the team which is on position five of the log table, Civil Sporting Club, at the Mzuzu Stadium on Monday.
In other battles, Moyale Barracks will host Red Lions at Mzuzu Stadium while Blue Eagle will date Silver Strikers at Nankhaka Stadium.
