Chitipa Utd to hunt for six points in the South
As the TNM top flight Super League takes new entrants, Chitipa United to the Southern Region this week-end, the new comers have vowed to come back home with the maximum six points.
The Chitipa side will travel for their first away games in the country’s competitive elite league to play Premier Bet Wizards Football Club and Blantyre United at Mulanje Park Stadium on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Chitipa United General Secretary, Marshall Mwenechanya, said the team is ready and in shape for the battle in boots ahead of them.
“We are taking advantage of the fact that this is just the beginning of the league and we have not yet experienced any injuries which could stand on our way.
“We are, therefore, going on these away games in full force utilising the presence of every player’s abilities,” he said.
Mwenechanya confidently parried away rumours that most new teams from the North do not do well in the away games.
“Those are just mere excuses and I don’t see it materializing on us; I don’t see why a team should fail to perform when it has prepared sufficiently.
“Let me make it straight here that Chitipa United are there to change that wrong assumption,” he said.
However, Premier Bet Wizard Technical Director, Peter Mponda is very sure his side will clinch the three points in Saturday’s game, saying they will not give Chitipa United any chance to humiliate them at home.
“As much as we cannot underestimate the performance of Chitipa United, we know how important it is for us to win this game.
“We will utilise the home-ground advantage to its fullest in addition to the fact that we have trained hard,” he said.
Chitipa United and Premier Bet Wizards have a point each after goalless draws in their first encounters against Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
