Cockpit lines up local artists in 2017: Giddes to be joined by Edgar& Davis on April 2
Cockpit Lounge in Lilongwe has lined up a number of local artists that will perform this year as one way of satisfying the needs of its diverse clientele.
Legendary Giddes Chalamanda will be joined by Edgar & Davis on April 2 to kick-start what has been dubbed “Cockpit Lounge’s Year.”
Despite his age, Giddes is not showing any signs of slowing down and as confirmed by Davis Njobvu, the acoustic music star would like to perform “until he cannot perform any longer.”
In a statement on Tuesday, Cockpit Lounge’s Public Relations Manager Tasha Maluza, said they considered the legendary musician to perform because his music is still relevant today and he remains one of the finest acoustic musicians in Malawi.
“We wanted to bring some entertainment for the older generation so that they can enjoy the best that Cockpit can offer. The lounge was established to reach a diverse clientele in Malawi,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of Giddes, Davis said he cannot imagine how the legendary musician would live without music.
“Giddes enjoys music and performing makes him who he is,” he said.
Davis said they band thanks God for making it possible for them to work with Giddes.
“God opened our eyes to identify Giddes as someone who needed the platform to showcase his magic. We grew in stature as a band because of Giddes and we have learnt a lot from interacting with Giddes,” he said.
