Eagles beat Bullets: Malawi TNM Supee League
After registering a string of loses, Blue Eagles FC rose from the doldrums to defeat Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0 in a TNM Super League encounter played before a huge crowd at Nankhaka Ground in Area 30.
Chisomo Chilasa claimed the lone strike 10 minutes from time when he headed in a well taken cross from in-form Mecium Mhone.
The result gave a true reflection of the game, which the cops controlled in both halves.
Bullets looked solid in defence but their midfield and striking force played second fiddle to the hosts, who never allowed the visitors to play their game.
The match was full of tempers and emotions especially in the first half as Bullets aimed to claim the top spot.
Eagles, on the other hand were looking for their first home victory and second win of the league having only won one of their first five league games, drawing twice and also losing twice.
Despite reshuffling their starting eleven in the second half by bringing in Nelson Kangunje, Cuthbert Sinetre and Mussa Manyenje for Fischer Kondowe, Collen Nkhulambe and Mike Mkwate bullets never troubled John Soko in between the cop s goal posts.
Technical director Elia Kananji admitted after the game that his side did not impress.
“We were following Blue Eagles type of play instead of playing our game but we have to forget about today’s loss and concentrate on tomorrow’s fixture against Masters Security in Dedza” said Kananji.
Eagles coach Audlo Makonyola saluted his charges for playing to instructions.
“We had been struggling and we told our players not to panic but play their game,” said Makonyola.
