Eagles go top as Silver lose again: Malawi TNM Super League
Blue Eagles have indeed injected momentum to this season’s TNM Super League campaign as they have moved to the top of the league on Saturday after beating Epac FC 2-1 to claim back-to-back wins.
The Eagles displaced Mighty Be Forward Wanderers who were forced to a 1-1 draw by Dwanga FC.
Chisomo Chilasa and Osward Maonga scored for Eagles while Anthony Bands converted a penalty for Epac.
The cops go top with six points from two games.
At Area 47 in Lilongwe, Silver Strikers woes continued into the new season losing their second game at home, this time to Azam Tigers after last week’s fall to Wanderers.
It was an awful performance by the bankers and Tigers were lucky to nick the victory through Bright Munthali goal late in the second half as they were not good either.
Both teams were coming from a frustrating week after Tigers were held 2 all by newly promoted Maxi Bullets, whereas Silver were beaten 2-1 by Wanderers.
Munthali capitalized on Silver goal keeper’s blunder and scored for the Tigers in the 84th minute of the match.
“I am dejected for sure. It is disappointing and we need a quick fix to this,” Silver coach Lovemore Fazili said.
Tigers technical director Robbin Alufandika praised the players for “wonderful performance.”
Elsewhere, Moyale Barracks beat Kamuzu Barracks 3-1 at Mzuzu Stadium.
