Gaba delighted with award as Bidvest triumph in knockout
Malawian star striker Gabadinho Mhango redeemed himself from a six-match suspension inspiring Bidvest Wits to a Telkom Knockout triumph on Saturday over Bloemfontein Celtic.
Mhango was punished after he was found guilty in a spitting incident with AmaZulu’s Michael Morton in September.
But the Malawian paid coach Gavin Hunt’s faith to put up a man of the match showdown despite failing to score in the game.
Kickoff reported that the 25-year-old striker is optimistic that the victory will motivate them to do well in their League title defence as they are currently perch second from bottom.
“First of all I would like to thank God and my teammates. I was suspended for six games and for me to come back and be man of the match I could not have done without the help of my teammates,” he said.
“As players it’s good to win trophies, so maybe this cup will give us confidence in the league.”
He said “this will give us motivation, we will come out fighting now.”
