JB hands over Mudzi house to Gogo Nyasoko of Kasungu
Gogo Nyasoko could not believe it when President Joyce Banda handed her keys to her new home.
She could not contain the excitement and was dumbfounded.
“I never thought I could ever sleep in a house, never in my wildest dream did I ever think I could own a house, but today because of our president, I have a house,” said Gogo Nyasoko
Nyasoko is one beneficiary of the Mudzi Transormation Trust at Kaliokha Cluster in Kasungu where 30 houses have been built for the people.
President Joyce Banda who handed over the keys to the house on Tuesday said she is happy that her dream now is turning into reality as a lot of people have houses now.
“This was a dream and the dream is now a reality and I am happy as a leader that people can now live in a decent home.”
President Banda said for her, she cannot sit by and watch people suffer that is why she established Mudzi Transformation Trust, saying the initiative will support social and economic projects for the transformation of lives of Malawians.
According to the President, the 2010 Integrated Household Survey showed that the poverty head count in Malawi did not significantly decrease over the past 10 years, saying government is concerned about the slow pace of eradicating poverty.
The Mudzi Transformation Trust will be a private sector-led initiative to which both local and international private sector is invited to invest in.
