Joseph Kamwendo Wanderers exit rumours denied
Mighty Wanderers inspirational captain Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo has disputed rumours going around in town that he is intending to quit the Nomads for Blue Eagles after he was spotted in Area 30 on Wednesday, January 2, 2012.
Blue Eagles General Secretary Akis Muwanga confirmed on Friday that Kamwendo alongside another former Mighty Wanderers midfielder Nafe Misasa came to Area 30 but he insisted that he was not aware what business brought them there.
“If they want to join us they are welcome, but l cannot confirm it here that they came to join us. People visit area 30 on a number of issues and l do not know what brought them here,” said Muwanga to Zodiak radio.
Muwanga, however stressed that as a club they cannot hesitate to sign the duo because they are skilful players who can fit well at Area 30.
However, Kamwendo has pledged his future to the Wanderers club, explaining that he went to Area 30 to visit friends on his way back from his home village in Mchinji District.
“I am very happy at Wanderers. I am a diehard Nomad fan, and lam not moving.”
Msasa, who recently announced his resignation from the Nomads following some problems, also denied that he is heading to Blue Eagles.
“Yes, l resigned from Wanderers but l have not yet made up on my mind on which team to join,” said Msasa.
Mighty Wanderers general secretary David Kanyenda accused some people (who he declined to mention) of being in the fore front creating such stories knowing they are vying for posts at the club.
“Some people who are vying for posts at the club are the ones trying to bring confusion at our club. Tell them to leave Wanderers alone because as far as we know Kamwendo is a true Nomad and he can bleed blue blood not red even if you can hack him with a knife,” said Kanyenda.
