K35mil new Mawira CCAP Church set to open on Sunday
Newly constructed magnificent Mawira Church of Central African Presbytery (CCAP) at Liwonde Township in Machinga is set to officially open its doors the congregation on Sunday, September 10, 2017.
The opening of the K35 million Prayer House has been possible after a record 12 years of fundraising through 33 Paper Sundays and other fundraising strategies such as coffee mornings.
Mawira CCAP Deputy Session Clerk, Allan Jere confirmed the official opening of the modern church whose construction started in earnest in 2005.
“Apart from the many guests expected at the opening ceremony, we are also expecting the Blantyre CCAP Synod’s Moderator to grace the occasion,” he added, in an interview that as builders fixed tiles of stairs to the church’s main entrance.
Apart from the Synod’s Moderator, Reverend Masauko Mbolembole, the church has invited government officials, traditional leaders including the Yao Paramount Chief Kawinga.
“We are inviting all the Reverends that have served at Mawira CCAP from 2005,” the Deputy Session Clerk added.
Jere said the new church has a seating capacity of 1,000 people at one service.
He disclosed that the church has membership base of more than 1, 250 from its seven zones.
The church raised K3.6 million during the last Paper Sunday held in May, 2017 year in readiness for the opening of the imposing structure which is expected to be graced by a number of guests.
