Kambalu paints with actors in Mlandu wa Njinga
Internationally celebrated Malawian painter Elson Kambalu is in town again but, this time, not for a new painting but a movie, Mlandu wa Njinga (Case of a Bicycle), which premiers in early next month from 6-9th April at Crossroads Auditorium in the capital Lilongwe.
Kambalu told Nyasa Times Tuesday that Mlandu wa Njinga is a feature length fictitious movie that runs for two hours.
“The film has taken me two years to make and has been shot in Lilongwe and Salima,” said Kambalu.
He said the film chronicles the life of a young man called Ntaja who comes out of prison and goes around looking for a woman he wanted to marry prior to his incarceration.
Ntaja finally finds her but things do not go as expected as the woman is already married, a development which opens up a can of worms including a bicycle case.
Starring in the movie is Ralpha Luga who plays the protagonist Ntaja, Princess Tapiwa Chilambula, Anna, who is the woman that was being looked for and Kossam Jasson who is Dolo who is Anna’s husband.
“A lot of musicians have been involved in the movie project including Jaco Jana, Agorosso, Malala, Neil Nayer, Moto Buu, JJ Munthali and many others,” said Kambalu.
