Kamlepo still at large as MRA, Malawi Police return vehicles
Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and Malawi Police Service on Tuesday returned the three vehicles belonging to firebrand politician Kamlepo Kalua and his son which they seized by the two State agencies but Kalua remains missing.
The High Court in Blantyre ordered the two State agencies to release the vehicle and gave Kalua a temporal relief from an imminent arrest in connection with his alleged tax evasion.
MRA officers accompanied by armed police last Wednesday raided the house of the Rumphi East member of Parliament (MP) and also of his son Penjani where they seized his Mercedes Benz and a Toyota V8 belonging to the son on allegations that they were smuggled into the country.
A day later, the police went back to Kalua’s house with their own search warrant and towed a grounded Jeep belonging to the MP on allegations that it was stolen.
”They have returned the vehicles today,” said Penjani, son of the outspoken politician.
But he expressed concern that the politician is still missing since last week.
“We fear for his life. None in our family knows his whereabouts. It’s unlike of him. We are afraid,” Penjani told Nyasa Times.
Before he went missing, Kalua described the raids at his houses and that of his son as political witch-hunting aimed at intimidating and harassing him.
People’s Party which Kalua serves as Vice President also expressed concern about his missing.

As a nation we need to step up enough of this talks. we need to you unite and figh for our rights. The issue of Kamlepo just proves how far this autocratic government is going to destroy our nation. Through massive corruption and silencing out spoken citizens. That stands out to speak out about the dangerous and evil activities happening in government. Another problem is that Institutions are being used and are gang up to root out people who are demanding for transparency, accountability, and fighting the abuse of power. Instead of governing the country in democratic way, We are now being led by Mafias led by the Mafioso on top of power chain. And no one will know until it’s too late. We need to unite together with civil societies and other institutions to stop this mess.

Sometimes,when we back the Govt we should as well be asking ourselves.The govt without proper evidence grabbed Kamleepo ‘s vehicles using our taxes,and now giving them back to him using our taxes and yet they fail to arrest someone found red handed with Forex and cash against law of the land.In this case which was a simpler task to carry out by govt? It is pathetic to think that some ill people back up the govt for stupid mistakes and yet they can’t see the great mistakes they let go.
