Local innovations address challenges – ICTAM
Information and Communications Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) says local innovations that were showcased during the Innovation forum met standard requirements that were set to qualify to be used in the country.

The association held its first ever innovation forum in Mangochi in December where outstanding firms and individuals in various sectors won awards in different sectors such as health, agriculture and environment.
ICTAM President, Wisely Phiri, said they were encouraged by the response as over 38 submissions competed in the individual and corporate categories.
“We were overwhelmed with the response and the enthusiasm from the general public being the first of its kind in Malawi, and the response encouraged use to actually think of making the event this year even much bigger and exciting,” said he.
Phiri said most innovations surpassed their expectations and they set benchmark for other individuals and companies to emulate.
During the innovations forum, Biz Malawi, FDH Bank and Airtel Malawi were recognized in corporate category.
Some of the individuals who won with their inventions include Khumbo Phiri, Walter Moyo, Daniel Mvalo, Thandie Magasa, Chris Dzuwa and Davison Phiri.
Phiri added that the number of innovations reflected the significant progress the country had made in ICT related field.
“After the innovation forum we expect more innovations tailor made to solve challenges and improve service delivery in the country,” said he.
