Lulu denies brawl over sex worker: Summoned to Police
Lilongwe-based urban musician Lulu (Lawrence Khwisa) has sharply denied gossips on the social media that he had been arrested for fighting with a man over a commercial sex worker but confirmed that he summoned to Kawale Police Station in Lilongwe over a quarrel with a friend at a pub.
According to eye witnesses, Lulu came at a drinking joint with two girls, after sometime, another imbiber who is a Brundian startted making advances to one girl who accompanied the musician.
Apparently, annoyed with the development, Lulu exchanged some bitter words before they exchanged blows.
“It was then that Lulu picked empty bottle and hit the other person,” said the eye witness who identified himself as Albert.
Lilongwe Police Spokesperson Ramsy Mshani confirmed that Lulu spent the night at Kawale Police and charged with causing gravious bodly harm.
“The victim reported the matter to Kawale Police where they arrested the musician,” he said.
The charges were dropped after the victim, who suffered a brocken hand withdrew his complaint.
Meanwhile, Lulu is quoted in the media as saying it was not a serious issue and he is just a victim of being a celebrity.
“It is true, I was detained at Kawale Police Station on Saturday morning over a quarrel with a friend at a drinking place near Kawale PTC. However, there was no case and the issue was solved without engaging the police because the injury suffered by the complainant was not purported,” said Lulu.
