Malawi army’s Moyale Barracks celebrates 45 years of existence
Moyale Barracks will on Saturday celebrate 45th anniversary in style with a number of activities lined up for the day dubbed Moyale Day.
Acting Adjutant Lieutenant Precious Gausi said the celebration will start in the morning with a parade by Moyale Barracks soldiers, primary and secondary school students from the barracks to Mzuzu Post Office.
He said in the afternoon there will be traditional dances such as Chioda and Mbotosya right in the barracks, adding that several companies will also display and sell their products to patrons as they get entertained.
“As we celebrate 45th anniversary on Saturday, we are very happy because over the years we have ensured peace and harmony in the country, more especially to the people of Northern Region,” Gausi said.
“Let me also take this opportunity to thank the general public for working with us without any hustles,” he added.
Gausi who is also the publicity secretary for the event called on the general public to patronise the event as one way of cementing the cordial relationship that has existed over the years.
Moyale Barracks was established on December 6, 1967 but the event has been slated for Saturday, December 8, to give chance to enable many people patronise the event.
