Malawi Carlsberg Cup draw: Wanderers paired with Max Bullets as Red Lions face Moyale and BB meet Silver Reserves
Soccer fans should expect tears and joy in the prestigious Carlsberg Cup Malawi following the national draw in the preliminary round, which took place on Wednesday at Chiwembe Technical Centre in Blantyre.
The draw was conducted by Football Association of Malawi (FAM) general secretary Sugzo Nyirenda and Carlsberg Malawi Senior Brands manager on alcoholic Twikale Chirwa.
During the draw, Mighty Be Forward Wanderers will have a home ground advantage, as they face Maxi Bullets, while Support Battalion will travel to Mzuzu to meet Mzuni FC.
In another tricky fixture, Changalume Barracks will rock horns against Kamuzu Barracks in the old capital city, as Chilumba Barracks hosts Wizard FC.
Soccer fans in the capital city will have a chance to watch Silver Strikers Reserves taking on Epac FC, as Airborne Rangers will host Ndirande Icons.
In another preliminary round fixture, OP FC will play Master Security.
Carlsberg Malawi Senior Brands manager on alcoholic, Twikale Chirwa described the draw fair, and urged soccer loving Malawians to patronize the games.
Chirwa said their company has lined-up a number of prizes, which soccer fans will stand a chance to win in the various soccer venues.
Chirwa also said they are so far impressed with the competition on the cup and urged lower League teams to upset the tables.
For instance, he gave an example of Zomba United which progressed through all the way into the finals last season.
FAM general secretary, Sugzo Nyirenda assured maximum security during the games.
Nyirenda also urged soccer fans to observe discipline during the matches.
