Malawi exam fraud: Maneb concedes English paper leaked
The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) has conceded that English language question papers for this year’s Malawi Schools Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination were leaked but would not affect the outcome of the results.
Confirming the development, MANEB publicist, Mayamiko Chiwaya said the question papers were circulated on social media when candidates were already seated in examination rooms waiting for the question papers.
She told Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) that papers are believed to have been leaked by some invigilator after taking the pictures using his or her before given to the candidates.
Sources at police in Lilongwe also say three students from Kabwabwa Community Day Secondary School in Area 25 were arrested after being found discussing Agriculture theory paper that was administered Monday during MSCE examinations.
Chiwaya, therefore, said investigations are underway to establish the source of the leakage.
The this year’s MSCE examination commenced on 27th October with Agriculture Practical and will end on 20 November.
The Board also administers Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (MSCE) and Primary Teachers Certificate of Education (PTCE) examinations.
This year’s PSLCE were written from 30th September to 2nd October while the PTCE will be administered from 1st December.
