According to Fam’ Commercial and Marketing Director Limbani Matola, who composed the lyrics of the song entitled ‘The Flames’, it aims at mobilising patriotic support for the Flames ahead of and during the match.
“It also aims at inspiring the Flames players to play their lungs out and score goals as well as play classic football as a team to reward he fans who will be singing the song in the stands, ” Matola said.
“It is very important that as Malawi plays against Comoros island this coming Saturday, the players should be in high morale and in good spirits so that it gives them full confidence that the whole nation is behind them.”
Matola said wrote the lyrics, while the vocal composition and voicing was done by McDonald Kachingwe. Vocal backing is by George Misinde, Peter Phiri, Joseph Buleya and Victor Mussa.
It is produced by Steve Meleka of M-Studios at Chilobwe in Blantyre and it also features football commentary voice of Williams Gondwa of Times Radio.
The Flames always have the support of the fans though they end up disappointed with the final result.
There is always a campaign that whenever the Flames arenplaying the fans should wear red attire as solidarity in the campaign dubbed ‘Make Them See Red’.
