Malawi referees to undergo fitnest test
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that the referees’ fitness test will take place this weekend in all the three regions of the country.
The development has been revealed in a statement released by the association on Wednesday and made available to Nyasa Times.
“The Football Association of Malawi would like to inform you all that the regional fitness test for the first quarter of 2013 will take place during the coming weekend,” reads part of the statement signed by FAM Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suzgo Nyirenda.
According to the statement, both in Blantyre and Mzuzu the test will be carried out on Saturday starting from 9:00am and the venues are Mzuzu Stadium and College of Medicine.
In Lilongwe the fitness test will be staged at Kamuzu Institute of Sports on Sunday February 10 starting from 9:00am as well.
The statement emphasizes that only referees that are at an elite stage are eligible to take part.
The statement says the test will help in equipping the whistle officials ahead of next local competition.
“Referees involved are those at the elite stage and this will prepare the referees for the presidential cup scheduled to kick off in March and season (Super League) slated for April,” concludes the statement.
