Malawi veteran politician Odinga Chifi joins PETRA in ‘3rd liberation’ fight
Association of Veteran Politicians executive director Odinga Chifi is back in active politics and has joined opposition People’s Transformation Party (Petra.)
Mulanje based Chifi announced his membership to PETRA at a rally addressed by the party’s president Kamuzu Chibambo in the district on Saturday.
Chifi said PETRA is the only party that offers hope for the future.
He said unlike other parties, PETRA had a “broader and articulate vision for the country.”
Chibambo said his party is “greatly pleased” to welcome on board Chifi, who he described as “a political stalwart in Malawian politics.”
“This man who played a pivotal role in the fight for political pluralism in 1992, 1993, and 1994 has remained untainted in the face of politics of greed and retribution that has for so long dominated the Malawian political landscape,” said Chibambo.
Chibambo said Chifi has been persuaded by the policies espoused by PETRA and the consistency of the party, which has “through and through endeavored to stand on principle and fight for the ordinary Malawian. “
He said PETRA is geared to fight to attain the ‘third liberation’ for Malawi for an “economically independent and exploitation free” nation.
