Malawi VP Chilima calls for love and unity during Catholic fundraiser
Vice President Saulosi Chilima has called on Malawians to embrace the spirit of love and unity to foster the country’s development.
The Vice president was speaking Friday night at Mt Soche Hotel during a fundraising dinner which the Catholic Women Organisation-CWO for the Archdiocese of Blantyre organised to raise funds for next week’s meeting.
Chilima, a church going Catholic, sourced K1 million which will be donated to Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) ahead of their next week’s Diocesan meeting at Nantipwriri in Blantyre.
He called for love among Malawians insisting the killings, abductions and other atrocities manifest because of lack of love in the country.
“You see people killing each other, you hear of abductions and some are even in the business of cutting other people’s private parts. But all these would end if we love one another and it’s my prayer that as Christians we love one another,” urged Chilima.
In his speech, Archbishop Thomas Msusa of the Archdiocese of Blantyre commended Chilima for taking a leading role on Church matters.
For instance, he thanked the Vice President and government for assisting Roman Catholic when it hosted the AMECEA meeting some months ago.
“Let me take this opportunity to thank you the Vice President because even when you are busy with government business, you are always available for God’s work,” said Msusa.
Chairlady for the CWO Ellen Kapeta said the grouping is next week expected to hold a Diocesan meeting at Nantipwriri in Blantyre before holding a national meeting in Karonga later in the year.
Kapeta hailed the Vice President and the Archbishop for gracing the dinner and dance.
During the ceremony, a number of people won various prizes after a raffle draw was conducted.

Big up Saulos, don`t let some of these disparaging remarks worry you. Just remain focussed, the future is yours. As for the wife, much as I don`t like engaging in tribal gymnastics and slurs, I want to put it on the record that she is actually from CZ, St, Theresa to be specific.
Corrupt minds call evil chilungamo (truth). My life will magnify the Lord God Almighty at all times even when poverty seems to overtake me but I am content with what God gives me. Blessed are they which do hunger & thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6). King David said “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornfull. But………(Psalm 1:1-3). “No matter how long a lie is sustained but always Truth will prevail” Where is your first… Read more »

If we could believe what Malawi’s leaders SAY then Malawi has a golden future!
Chilima and Chakwera sound like preachers. Even Atupele and APM sound clean.
We must, however, look at their sources of income and their friends before we become overly optimistic. Cashgate and unsolved homicides are not dead issues!
Firstly I would like to make it clear that Saulosi Chilima you are the illegitimate VP as APM remain the illegitimate President of this land. Deep down your hearts you know that you didn’t win the election but through some greedy people like Mbendera & Kenyatta helped you to rig the elections in order yo fill their bellies with dirty cash which you gave them. As long ad God is Holy He will never ever support any plan initiated through evil ways. When the Israelites were on their way yo the promised land Achan tried to take evil riches do… Read more »
He is wise because he has married a tumbuka lady.Atumbuka sanama.
The fact is the tumbukas hate the lomwes
If you love your country why did you steal votes for mutharika? Don’t play a good guy here damn it!!
Thumbs up to the V.P., however,u must lecture DPP old gurus who r busy talking rubbish about Chakwera’s joining politics. They called themselves Politicians but they don’t even know what politics is all about, to sensitize, let them read Aristotle book “Man is by Nature a Political Animal” n “What is Politics” by Heywood, only then they would respect MCP’s president.
That’s true Mr Vice President we Malawians we are lacking love to one another that’s why we killing l each other and some are busy with Cashgate.Thats very sad indeed.I cry my beloved Country Malawi.
