MPC utilizing new technologies to ease operational mobilities

Malawi Post Corporation (MPC) is celebrating significant advancements in its operations as it integrates new technologies to improve service delivery both locally and internationally. During a recent media tour at the Kamuzu International Airport office, Enala Jumpha, manager at MPC International Mail Processing Center, emphasized how embracing digital solutions has enabled the corporation to meet global standards.

“With the high volume of international mail, manual processing posed considerable challenges,” Jumpha explained. “Implementing an Integrated Processing System (IPS) allows us to scan both incoming and outgoing mail, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency.”

The corporation’s commitment to modernization comes at a crucial time as it prepares to mark the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) on October 9, 2024. Jumpha reassured the public of MPC’s reliability, stating, “Malawians can continue to trust MPC as we strive to provide convenient and trustworthy services.”

In addition to enhancing mail processing, MPC has expanded its facilities to include services from the National Registration Bureau (NRB) and the National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF). This initiative, praised by local residents in Kawale, Lilongwe, offers easier access to essential services, allowing more people to engage with these vital resources without traveling long distances.

Austin Msukwa, acting deputy regional manager at the center, noted that the courier services at Lilongwe Post Office have seen marked improvements. “We’ve experienced a significant increase in door-to-door deliveries, making it easier for businesses and individuals to receive their mail promptly,” he stated.

Currently, Malawi boasts 180 post offices, and with the ongoing improvements, MPC is poised to enhance its role as a key player in the communication landscape. As the corporation approaches its anniversary, it continues to focus on innovation and service quality, ensuring that it remains a trusted partner for all Malawians.
