Mzuni replaces Phompho with Gondwe as students leader
Mzuzu University Students Union on Monday went to polls where they elected third year Bachelor of Arts (Theology) student Nyozomo Gondwe as president of students governing body replacing short-fused Abel Phompho who is facing assulat charges.
Phompho – fondly known as ‘Divine Gentleman’ – was arrested by Malawi police after beating a fellow student over union issues where the former president was implicated in embezzling student’s union moneys.
The new student leader Gondwe will be deputised by Jerson Mtembenuzeni, while the Secretary is Grace Makwakwa and her vice is Jubeda Benjala.
The Treasure post is Dumisani Kagunya, Vice treasure Wilson Sawasawa, Speaker IS Alinafe Dzanja and deputy speaker Edward Chuza.
Other positions are; Academic Director Emanuel Lawyer, Deputy academic director Medson Mbilizi
Offcampus Director Innocent Kachikopa, Deputy Offcampus director Leornad Banda, Social welfare Director Jane Jeremiah and Deputy Social welfare directo rGodwell Zimba.
